We Create PEAK Experiences

Anybody can host an event and simply send out invites. Our events, activations and experiences are consciously designed with a community engagement mindset, so instead of coming away from your investment with an email list of attendees, you have a community of engaged participants. Here are a few examples of how this has played out for our team over the years …

Burning Man

As Burning Man was slowly becoming a cultural phenomenon in the mid-2000s, we designed, built and managed the operational infrastructure — communications, systems, platforms and processes — to foster this rapidly-growing community year-round, building the emotional connections and supporting the culture that would span the time between gatherings in Black Rock City. This also included the facilitation and support for a network of 175+ global representatives, and 100+ Burning Man Regional events around the world.

Maker Faire

Part science fair, part county fair, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. “Makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned. We curated, produced and ran one of the main exhibit halls for Maker Faire San Mateo and Maker Faire NYC, and built the communications and content infrastructure to support the global Maker Faire community before, during and after Faire events. This provided readily-accessible spaces to network, connect, share and show off their creations to the world to amplify people's inspiration and participation, and resulted in a steady increase in attendance and participation, growth in maker spaces, global affiliate events and partnerships.

Red Bull Creation

Red Bull Creation was an annual 72-hour innovation competition that challenged the nation's best and brightest hackers, makers, and inventors to create something new and exciting around a unique secret topic — proving it’s cool to be smart. We researched and compiled a list of all the maker spaces and hacker communities in America, and delivered 300+ invitations containing bespoke circuit board puzzles to solve to be accepted into the competition. We hosted and ran a 72 hour creator competition and post-event follow-up to bring the burgeoning Maker, Hacker and Creator communities together, marking a launch point for multiple companies and countless collaborations. For six years running, Red Bull Creation received hundreds of applicants as a marquee Red Bull event.

Coachella, Symbiosis, LIB, SXSW…

Over the years, we’ve done a ridiculous amount of large-scale art curation, environmental, experiential and interaction design at events and festivals, including Coachella, Symbiosis Gathering, Treasure Island Music Festival, Lightning in a Bottle, SXSW, Art Basel, Okeechobee, Edwardian Ball, Sea of Dreams, and more. Not only were we curating and installing art and environmental elements, we became expert in conjuring the tangible intangibles that make up the art of experiential design and placemaking to build emotional connections, and transform attendees into participants.

KultureHaus

KultureHaus served a variety of clients looking to create novelty in a crowded market, increase organizational efficiency or solve a cultural challenge. KultureHaus transformed concept into customized immersive experience, and produced moments that tapped into the full spectrum of our senses to create long-lasting impressions and memories. Through experience design, large-scale immersive art and social engineering — from Okeechobee to Magic City to electrocuting David Blaine for 72 hours — we are able to create culture, community and deep engagement for audiences.

Obscura Digital

Obscura was a renowned creative studio, known for jaw-dropping digital projections of art and activist messaging on iconic buildings around the world. Seeking to create an ecosystem of creative talent around the studio, we started an outreach program to local art schools and organizations, fostering conversations and creating a community of arts educators, arts professionals, digital artists, and art students. For its part, Obscura would participate in student critiques, do talks, host open studios, and host student meet-ups at the studio.

Fireside Storytelling

Fireside Storytelling was a SF-based live monthly storytelling series. We consciously designed it to foster human connection through storytelling. The stage was a foot high and the lights up, so the audience looked the storyteller in the eye. To create immediacy, we never used microphones and used a distraction-free venue. We carved out pre-, post-show and intermission mingling so the audience could connect with each other over what they’ve just experienced. We forged the audience and the storytellers into a community, and had full houses for eight years running, without ever advertising.

Art Outside

How do you create a community of artists in a town like Austin, that has a lot of artists but no community? Create a festival! Art Outside was a grassroots, outdoor art festival we produced on three acres of Austin Enchanted Forest, celebrating all forms of art, creativity and community. It grew to become a beloved community gathering of artists (and would-be artists) who would gift their creations to the invited to come co-create the festival experience, running from 2005-2017.
